It was the spell of snowy weather again after my latest blog post about the first sunny day in a while.
We have had an extraordinary heavy snow on the Sea of Japan side in Hokkaido.
I heard that no bus services were available yesterday in Iwamizawa city located in the distance of 32km from Sapporo. The narrow roads that was brought about by heavy snowfall prevented the buses from going by each other.
Trains are delayed and traffic slows often at this time of year, but I think it is really amazing that everything goes on a routine basis without any serious trouble in Hokkaido in spite of such tremendous amount of snow.
Former Nippon Yusen K.K. Otaru Branch Building in the snow
This building is designated as an Important Cultural Asset.
It looks particularly beautiful in the snow, elaborate details of the building are hidden with the snow, though.
Sidewalk near JR Minami Otaru Station
The snow wall got higher than pedestrians.
The width of roadway is also as half as it is in summer.
