CICLO is the musical unit made up of Masaharu Iida (contrabass etc.), Ichiko Habu (percussion), and Toru Ohogiyanagi (variety of recorder/fife, kantele, bodhran etc.). They are taking an active part of Otaru Soko No.1's live music performances.
CICLO means "cycle" in English, which suggests a musical cycle (loop or repeat), a life cycle (linkage of life and recycling). Ciclo is also the name of the man powered tricycle taxi used in Vietnam. CICLO has revived old European melodies from 500 to 800 years ago (known as European folk music) and refined them into more familiar sounds like jazzwaltz, reggae, etc. CICLO's unique characteristic as modern minstrels, appears in their use of computers in their musical approach. However, their use of acoustic sounds plus an impromptu living music philosophy, has helped support and develop their use of computer technology. Often using a toy or a frying pan as musical their instruments, or their knack of incorporating animal calls and nature themes into their music, means this first album is full of some unique and delightful sounds.
Price: ¥2,100 (including consumption tax) The album is available at Otau Soko No.1, and Internet order is also possible. You can also confirm the live performance schedule on Pirka Music's Live Calendar.
